“Immigration”
Historically, there has been an ambivalence towards immigration in America. On one hand, there are many benefits to immigration in our society, such as political, economic, and cultural. On the other hand, the critics strongly oppose the immigration, such as take the jobs in lower wages, waste public resources, and unable to communicate. However, The United stated is a country of immigrants, we need the immigrants to contribute to the prosperity of the America.
Immigrants impact our society in positive ways. In our society political, immigrants take a major role in the elections. The candidates who win the elections depend the large number of voters who vote for them. Similarly, The United States needs a lot of workers and farmers. So the government encourage immigration. Immigrant labor is speed up the economic. At the same time, variety of cultures has been brought in to this country. Sharing and exchanging food has became a traditional part of events, and people gain the different cultures. For example, I like to taste different food, and it is helping me to learn where the tradition events come from and even what the weather is like.
There is no doubt, that immigration has effected a series of negative ways in our society too. Some people oppose the continued high immigration rate. They complain about immigrants who take jobs from them and keep wages low. At the same time, many immigrants use too many expensive public resources, such as medical services and schools. In addition, the immigrants do not want to melt in. For example, they do not want to learn English, and resist out mixing with people who are part of American cultures.
Although, I understand these disadvantages, I agree with the many supporters of immigration in United States. They all believe that Immigrants contribute to the economy in important ways. We learn that on our text book page 80, the writer pointed out, “they increase the nation’s productivity by buying homes, starting new businesses, and paying taxes, and they add to the diversity and excitement American culture.” And the same time, I am interesting to know that the author described that we need the immigrants. So I am very surly that the Immigrants will bring in more positive ways than negative ways to our society.
In conclusion, The United States is a country of immigrants. We need immigrants, and we believe that the immigrants who contribute to build the prosperity of our society.
